Season’s Opener – 8th October 2015

This meeting heralds the start of our new season and the first of 17 racedays that take place every month right through until May. We’ll be throwing our gates wide open after our annual four month break and we can’t wait for you to experience again the very essence of racing at Exeter – terrific sport featuring some of the country’s most exciting racehorses, staged in the stunning surroundings of Haldon Hill.

It’s here, it happening, and to celebrate we’re offering anyone who brings their World Cup Rugby ticket half- priced entry to the races, after all an England-based World Cup is very unlikely to happen again during our lifetime.

WIN A SHARE IN A RACEHORSE

This hugely popular prize is open to everyone who pre-books their tickets to come racing at either of our October meetings (terms and conditions apply).

Last year we teamed up with top Devon trainer, Victor Dartnall, and our winner Alison Delve went to the Cheltenham Festival where Shammick Boy ran in the Coral Cup. The year before that Jeremy Scott kindly offered a share in The Snappy Poet and our winner enjoyed many fantastic day’s racing with the Holworthy Farm team. This year we’re teaming up with another trainer and more news will follow soon.

Tickets: Adult £13 (starting at)  Child: FREE, Senior £13, Student £7.50

Best Mate Novice Chase Day – 20th October 2015

We’re well and truly back into the swing of jump racing with our second meeting of the season and there’s another opportunity to win a share in a racehorse if you pre-book your raceday tickets in advance. We’ll be drawing the winner today, after the third race.

This meeting features the Best Mate Novice Chase and is a key date in the racing diary for racing aficionados keen to see future stars in action and for some clues to some future winners during the season ahead. The race is named after the legendary Best Mate who still holds a place close to peoples’ hearts despite passing away ten yeas ago. The three-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner won over £1m in prize money. He began his glittering steeple chasing career at Exeter in the equivalent race 15 years ago.

Raceday tours, which take place an hour before the first race starting outside the weighing room, are perfect for those new to racing while our racecourse announcer Luke Harvey’s tips on the podium half an hour before the first race comes under starters’ orders are definitely worth tuning in to.

Midweek Racing – Wednesday 11th November 2015

The mid November raceday is sure to be filled with plenty of excitement with the meeting renowned for the quality of its racing. Last year the Paul Nicholls-trained Ptit Zig drew admiring gasps from the crowd as he leapt his way to a faultless chasing debut and went on to register two grade two successes.

Make it a date in your diary to come racing on Haldon Hill and enjoy some top class winter racing.

If you’re new to racing the  free raceday tour will give you an interesting insight into racing (meet outside the weighing room an hour before the first race) and for some informed advice on the day’s runners listen to raceday announcer Luke Harvey’s tips from the podium half an hour before the first race.

Devon Day – Sunday 22nd November 2015

The racing Clydesdales will be back in action on Devon Day when the racecourse celebrates all that is great about the wonderful county. The gentle giants live on Dartmoor where they carry riders across Devon’s vast expanse of wilderness under the guidance of Tim Ancrum and Aileen Ware. But its their thundering hooves and flying feathers that really capture imaginations as they race down Exeter’s home straight with professional jockeys on board and it’s a spectacle well worth witnessing.

A fund raiser for the Devon Air Ambulance, racegoers can become a Clydesdale owner for the day (just get in touch with the racecourse and you will be given the details) and enjoy the experience of standing in the paddock, chatting to jockeys and enjoying the Owners’ and Trainers’ Bar.

Devon is renowned for its food and drink and you’ll be able to buy from various stands too.

There is a free raceday day tour an hour before the first race – meet outside the weighing room – and racing pundit Luke Harvey will be giving tips on the day’s racing from the podium half an hour before the start raises his flag.

Tickets: Adult £13 (starting at)  Child: FREE, Senior £13, Student £7.50
